Volpe National Transportation Systems Center
Program Description: As one of nine major agencies of the United States Department of Transportation (DOT), the Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) provides vital services to America's dynamic multimodal transportation system. Established recently to more effectively coordinate and manage the Department's research portfolio and expedite implementation of cross-cutting innovative technologies.
RITA operates the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, which is dedicated to enhancing the effectiveness, efficiency and responsiveness of other Federal organizations with critical transportation-related functions. Through research and development, engineering and analysis, the Volpe Center helps decision-makers define problems and pursue solutions to lead transportation into the 21st century. In essence, the Volpe Center is a catalyst for innovation - a source of critical insight necessary to realize transportation's promising future.
CNS OMNI IV Contact: In 2004, Quantech was awarded a prime contract as a small business to support the Volpe Center in the areas of Communications, Navigation and Surveillance. Team Quantech, consisting of 12 companies, will provide support for Volpe and their sponsors in five areas: Radio Frequency Engineering and Technology, Aircraft Surveillance, Airport Operations, National Air Space Engineering and Implementation and Air Traffic Management. Team Quantech provides Volpe with a well-balanced resource to respond to task orders in any of the five technology areas.
TSS OMNI IV Contact: In 2005, Quantech was awarded a second prime contract to support the Volpe Center in the area of Transportation Security Solutions. The 13 companies on our team will support Volpe and sponsors in Vulnerability Assessment and Security Planning and Systems Installation. Team Quantech provides Volpe with the breadth and depth to support the full range of Transportation Security requirements in either area.
