Director of Engineering
Summary: Don Wussler is the Director of the Engineering Services Capability Team for Quantech. In his new role, Don brings the necessary industry experience and technical capability to enable Quantech’s growth as an industry leader in providing engineering services to the Government. He is responsible for growing and developing Quantech’s technical workforce, while simultaneously increasing the amount of technically oriented work Quantech provides as a company.
Prior to joining Quantech, Don served as Director of Program Performance for a $100M Business Unit and successfully executed a $40M portfolio of contracts. Additionally, he was responsible for business development and capture across Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I), Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA), and Financial Services across all Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) Directorates. He also served as the primary interface with SMC’s senior leadership.
Don is a retired Air Force officer, retiring in the rank of Colonel. A career acquisition officer, Don served four tours at three different product centers, and served five years on the Air Staff in the Pentagon, including a year working as an Air Force liaison to the House and Senate Appropriations Committees.
Don served as program manager for all upgrades to the U.S. Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) fleet and served as the program director for Force Protection Command and Control Systems. He performed as Group Commander for all counterspace programs in the Space Superiority Systems Wing, Vice Commander of the Global Positioning Systems Wing, and concluded his 27-year Air Force career as the Director of SMC’s Development Planning Directorate. In that assignment, he led the development of the highly successful Commercially Hosted Infrared Program (CHIRP), which has paved the way for the future of disaggregation and commercial hosting for future space systems.
Education: Don received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame. Don also has Master of Science Degrees from the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Don attended Defense Acquisition University’s Advanced Program Management Course (APMC) and Executive Program Management Course (EPMC). Finally, he attended both the Air Force Group and Wing Commanders Courses.
